Orlando Pirates players were given their return date details as they left the club for the off-season, after finishing second on the Absa Premiership log.
The Buccaneers ended the 2018/19 season on a high note, following their 3-0 win over Polokwane City in their last match of the campaign in Orlando.
Milutin Sredojevic and the team won 15 of their 30 matches, drew 12 and lost only three on their way to finishing the season in second place, behind winners Mamelodi Sundowns, who successfully defended their title.
With the Buccaneers set to return to the CAF Champions League again next season, while a busy season is anticipated, the players have been handed enough time to rest and enjoy time with their families and loved ones during the off-season.
The Siya crew has been informed that Bucs players are set to return for pre-season on June 20, as the technical team will be expected to make decisions on next season’s squad.
“The players have been told to return on the 20th (of June). But some guys from places outside of Jo’burg may decide to return from as early as the 14th in order to get themselves ready for next season ahead of time,” a source told the Siya crew.
Prior to the start of the 2018/19 season, Pirates players were taken to Nelspruit in Mpumalanga by the technical team for their pre-season, before they flew out to Zambia, where they played against the likes of DR Congo giants TP Mazembe, as well as Zambia clubs Power Dynamos FC and Forest Rangers, among others.
