Orlando Pirates are on the right track to win the next edition of this season’s PSL Q-Innovation awards.
Log leaders Kaizer Chiefs have already claimed both the awards for the first and second quarters of the 2019/20 Absa Premiership Q-Innovation.
Under German coach Josef Zinnbauer, the Buccaneers are yet to lose a game in the league in seven matches, with the team’s last five fixtures – all victories, falling under Q3, putting them in pole position for the award and prize money with three more fixtures to go for the quarter.
The Soweto giants last won the Q-Innovation with their Q4 victory of last season under former coach Milutin Sredojevic.

Pirates had also won Q3 for the 2017/18 season. Prior to that, the Buccaneers had struggled to win any Q-Innovation awards, as Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns had dominated the awards since its inception during the 2012/13 season, while the likes of Bidvest Wits, Cape Town City and Polokwane City had tasted their own success.
Meanwhile, and as confirmed by the league, Zinnbauer has won the Coach of the Month for January, while in-form Pirates striker Gabadinho Mhango bagged the gong for the Player of the Month for the same period.
