Orlando Pirates’ new defensive partnership of Ntsikelelo Nyauza and Olisa Ndah has been lauded, following the team’s impressive 3-0 win over Stellenbosch FC.
The Buccaneers handed Stellies their first defeat of the season at home in a fixture where Nyauza was in the starting line-up for a second consecutive game and captaining the side.
While Bucs have been praised for having managed to finally score goals, the team has also not been conceding after keeping a second successive clean sheet, having played a 0-0 draw in the previous match on the weekend against Golden Arrows with Nyauza and Olisa Ndah leading the team’s defence line.
Pirates co-coach Fadlu Davids lauded the centre-back pairing of Nyauza and Ndah in the absence of Happy Jele and Thulani Hlatshwayo.
“Ndah is quite dominant in the air. I’m not sure what happened (with the goal that was ruled out) but it was just unfortunate for him in terms of scoring his first goal for Pirates, but it will come. He is a dominant force, not only in attacking set pieces but in defence line. He is really doing well with the partnership now with Ntsiki,” said Davids, speaking through the Pirates media department.
