Amid rumours linking Thembinkosi Lorch with a move away from Orlando Pirates, the midfielder has been advised to remain focused and to continue giving his best when he gets the opportunity to play.
Several reports in local media in recent weeks have linked Lorch with an exit from the Buccaneers and both Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs have been mentioned next to his name whenever there is talk of a possible transfer about him.
Lorch last played in February and has been out due to injury, and according to information made available to the Siya crew, the 27-year-old player’s contract with the Soweto giants is set to expire in June, although Siya sources have indicated that Pirates have an option in place to extend his deal.
With Pirates fans wondering whether the Bafana Bafana international will still be in their team next season amid speculation that he wants to leave, former Pirates midfielder Hleza Mofedi has advised the player to remain focused.
“The way I see it, the boy is unsettled, and it looks like he wants to leave the club. If he wants to leave, he should follow the right procedure because he has a contract with Pirates. At the end of the day, whether Lorch is there or not Pirates will continue to exist. Lorch is not Pirates. I am encouraging the boy to continue playing, and knowing the chairman, he will allow him to leave for greener pastures at some point. The chairman allowed big-name players like (Teko) Modise and (Oupa) Manyisa to leave. He gave them his blessing,” said Mofedi.
Lorch has made 17 appearances in all competitions in the domestic league this season and has scored three goals.
