Orlando Pirates midfielder Linda Mntambo is commended for his commitment despite his lack of regular game-time.
The former Jomo Cosmos and Chippa United player had been on course to impress Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer for a return to his line-ups, when the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the league in mid-March.
Speaking to the Siya crew, Figo’s agent Palesa Mkhize lauded the 30-year-old for his commitment in training and positive attitude.
“Linda is one person who likes to work very hard. He’s always posting about his progress (in training), and he’s always posting about his hard work. He is a hard worker and is always very happy,” said the representative.
Following his breakthrough to Mzansi’s top-flight, after leaving Cosmos for Chippa in January 2018, Mntambo was hailed by his former coach – the legendary Ephraim ‘Jomo’ Sono, as the best midfielder in Mzansi.
Figo lasted only six months in the Eastern Cape, before securing a big move to the Buccaneers from the Chilli Boys as one of the top performers in the league at the time.
“He doesn’t break his momentum when he is not playing or what else, because he knows that his chance will come. He’s doing the right things at training (before lockdown) and scoring goals. He’s even been working hard at home now during this period. He’s just an oiled machine that keeps going. He’s just waiting for his chance and he’s always positive,” Mkhize told the Siya crew.
