Former Orlando Pirates defender, Lizo Mjempu, has been impressed with the team’s commitment and their fighting spirit in their pursuit of the league title.
Following their 2-1 win over Free State Stars at the weekend, the Buccaneers have become the first team to reach the 50 point mark in the 2018/19 season.

The Buccaneers are at the top of the Absa Premiership log with 50 points. Mamelodi Sundowns are second on the standings and Bidvest Wits are in third place. Both teams are on 44 points.
Mjempu says the current Pirates side reminds him of his time at the Soweto giants.
“It’s been a long time since I last saw Pirates playing like this. The current team reminds me of my generation. They are committed and fighting for each other, just like during our generation,” said Mjempu.

“The guys have on a rhythm that’s so enjoyable to watch. They play the Pirates way, the way we know how the team play. They are quick and play with the never say die attitude,” added the former defender.
The next match for Bucs will be against Maritzburg United at the Harry Gwala Stadium on April 24.
