Orlando Pirates are believed to be keeping tabs on a Malawian youngster who caught the attention of the club with his impressive peformances.
As reported late last year, the Buccaneers had Malawian striker Peter Banda on trial with the team, with a view to sign him at a later stage.
Although the young star recently joined a new club in Malawi, after completing a three-year deal with Nyasa Big Bullets from Griffin Young Stars, indications are that Bucs have been following the player’s progress and have been impressed.
Last year, following the player’s trial with Pirates’ reserves, arrangements were made for him to travel with the club’s Project X team to their tour to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, as part of his assessment for a potential contract with the club.
However, the 18-year-old did not travel with the Buccaneers when they made the trip in April last year, due to paperwork issues, as stated by the officials at the time.
Banda played against South Africa during the 2019 COSAFA Cup Plate final match, as coach David Notoane’s side were crowned champions following their 5-4 win on penalties, after the match ended in a 0-0 draw on regulation time at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
