Orlando Pirates have provided an update on ‘long-term’ injuries of two stars as the team prepares for their second match of the 2020/21 season against Stellenbosch FC.
In both the team’s matches so far this season, against Cape Town City and AmaZulu in the MTN8 and league respectively, Pirates have been without defender Bongani Sam as well as striker Tshegofatso Mabasa.
The Buccaneers, who will be hoping to move up the log after their match against Stellies at the Orlando Stadium tomorrow evening, have confirmed that Mabasa injured his foot while Sam is nursing a hamstring injury.
Bucs provided their injury update on the club’s official website:
"Update on The Long-Term Absentees
Tshegofatso Mabasa (Foot)
Currently undergoing rehabilitation for the next couple of weeks before he can return to training with the rest of the squad.
Bongani Sam (Hamstring)
Nearing a return to training after straining his hamstring during a friendly match at the beginning of the month. Sam is expected to start training with the rest of the squad next week."
