Orlando Pirates has been charged by the league and a date is confirmed for their hearing, as confirmed PSL prosecutor, Zola Majavu.

During Pirates’ home match in Orlando against TS Galaxy on December 11, there was off-field controversy between the officials of the two clubs, after the visitors’ president Tim Sukazi was allegedly denied entry to the field.

Following the much-publicized incident, Galaxy’s media officer Minenhle Mkhize alleged that he was slapped in the face by his Pirates counterpart Thandi Merafe which prompted him to open a case with the police.  

In proving an update, Majavu has confirmed that Pirates are set for a hearing on Wednesday next week in relation to the events of that afternoon.

“Orlando Pirates Football Club was charged yesterday, and their matter has been enrolled for hearing at 2 o’clock on the 26 of January, next Wednesday. This is in relation to the misconduct arising from the chairman of TS Galaxy being denied entry into the stadium. The charges proffered against Orlando Pirates relate to that incident. When it is finalised, at whatever date and time, once again I will come back and provide a further update on the outcome of the DC hearing,” said Majavu, speaking through the PSL’s media department.
