With Orlando Pirates set to resume their DStv Premiership campaign after returning from the CAF Confederation Cup, coach Fadlu Davids has spoken about the team’s chances against his former club.
The Buccaneers will be at the Harry Gwala Stadium to face Maritzburg United on Wednesday evening, in what could be a tricky fixture against the inconsistent Pietermaritzburg outfit, who are also desperate for points.
After not featuring in the league this past weekend, Bucs have moved down to seventh place on the log and have had their rivals Kaizer Chiefs catch up with them on nine points, while Maritzburg are keen to improve on their 11th position on the standings.
Davids says they are looking to build on the performance of their previous match, despite playing to a 0-0 draw in Congo with Diables Noirs.
“Travelling to Harry Gwala is always a tough match. On top of that, Maritzburg United are quite flexible. If you analyse them, they can play in different structures. So, that informs us that, yes, individual profile in one but really (we need) to focus on ourselves and to focus on our structure. Take the last match we played was a good match away from home and create a formidable line-up to get the three points over there.” said Davids, speaking to the Pirates media department.
