Orlando Pirates could be set to make some changes to their backline, as the club is expected to welcome two new defenders for the new season.
With the Buccaneers believed to have already signed left-back Tebogo Tlolane from Chippa United, the Soweto giants are believed to be also on the verge of bringing Bongani Sam from Bloemfontein Celtic to add him to coach Milutin Sredojevic’s side for the new season.
As reported by the Siya crew, the Celtic left-back attracted interest from Pirates, among other clubs, and that the club had been the favourites to land him.
Indications are that a move to the Buccaneers for the 21-year-old junior international has all benn agreed to in principle, with the announcement of his signing believed to be imminent.
With Bucs expected to have two new left-backs in Tlolane and Sam for the 2019/20 season, some players from last season’s squad at the Soweto giants could find themselves falling down the pecking order, or even having to leave the club.
Some of the players who could be affected by the two players’ arrival include Thabo Matlaba, Paseka Mako, as well as Phetso Maphanga, who finished the season on loan at Chippa, following his lack of regular game-time at Bucs.
