Pirates Not Giving Up In Prime Target?

Orlando Pirates could be set to revisit their interest in one of their long-term transfer targets after missing out on the player during the July/August transfer window.

Just a few days before the transfer window closed, the Buccaneers managed to conclude a deal for Ntsako Makhubela whom they signed from Golden Arrows, after beating rivals Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs to his signature.

While Makhubela is one of the highly-rated midfielders in the league, having proven himself with his performances and high work-rate in the two years that he has been with Abafana Bes’thende, Bucs were still hoping to add the more experienced Cape Town City and Bafana Bafana midfielder Thabo Nodada to their star-studded squad.

Nodada, who is one of the Citizens’ most prized assets almost concluded a move to Turkey a few weeks ago.

Pirates were keen on the attacker and two others from the Mother City club, but the deal failed to materialise.

As previously reported by the Siya crew, Taariq Fielies and Craig Martin were part of a proposed deal between the Buccaneers and City.

As reported in edition 1240 of Soccer Laduma, Pirates will consider revisiting their interest in the 26-year-old, with indications from sources that the club could act as early as January when the next transfer window opens.

“Pirates is still very much interested in Thabo Nodada. The club tried to sign him in this past transfer window, but things didn’t go according to plan for them. He is one of the players identified as potential signings for the club,” said a source.

“Cape Town City are willing to sell the player to Pirates, but the price must be right. City is looking for a best possible deal for the player, even if it is going to be a swap deal for players plus cash. You can even expect two players or more, and cash to be offered in an exchange for Nodada,” the source added.
