He was 95 years old and was the last Rivonia trialist who was still alive. In paying tribute to the fallen hero, Khoza thanked him for his support to the Buccaneers and said, as quoted on the club’s official website:

What a PEACEFUL and PEACE loving man he was. He honestly spoke his mind, even in tough uncomfortable situations, always paving a way towards peace. He spent his whole adult life, including a long cruel incarceration, dedicated in PEACE. The privilege of being with him meant being engulfed by PEACE.
Your Orlando Pirates Family, which you showered with support until the end, will miss you greatly Oom Andrew.
Once a Pirate, Always a Pirate.
May your soul repose PEACEFULLY.
