Despite having already added a French goalkeeper, as well as a Zambian winger to their current squad, Orlando Pirates can still add two more foreigners to the team for the 2019/20 season.
In what has been a busy transfer window period for the Soweto giants, Ezikamagebhula have confirmed signing highly-rated Zambian winger Austin Muwowo this week.
The 24-year-old player’s signing brings the number of players signed by the club for coach Milutin Sredojevic’s team for the new season to nine.
Pirates’ signings, as officially confirmed by the club, are goalkeeper Joris Delle, defenders Bongani Sam, Tebogo Tlolane, midfielders Kabelo Dlamini, Fortune Makaringe, Siphesihle Ndlovu and Muwowo, as well as forwards Tshegofatso Mabasa and Gabadinho Mhango.
Having parted ways with Zimbabwean defender Marshall Munetsi and his countryman Kudakwashe Mahachi, as well as young Brazilian centre-back Caio Marcelo, the Buccaneers still have two foreign slots open in their squad, despite the acquisition of Muwowo.
The Buccaneers have been linked with another highly-rated winger in Burkina Faso’s Yacouba Songne, who is currently on the books of Ghanaian giants, Asante Kotoko.
Meanwhile, the Soweto giants are taking their pre-season preparations a step further with a trip to Cape Town, where they are expected to play three friendly matches, before returning to Johannesburg to play against Kaizer Chiefs in the Carling Black Label Cup Soweto Derby match on July 27.
