Davids: I Don't Think Its The Time To Feel Sorry For Hunt

Orlando Pirates assistant coach Fadlu Davids has revealed why he is not feeling any remorse for his counterpart Gavin Hunt who is still unable to sign players, ahead of Sunday’s Soweto Derby.

It has been confirmed that Kaizer Chiefs have lost their appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against their two-window transfer ban handed down by FIFA over the transfer of Andriamirado ‘Dax’ Andrianarimanana.

This means that Hunt will not be able to bring in any players until at least July 2021.

Addressing the media via a virtual press conference, Pirates assistant coach Davids said there was no time to feel sorry for Hunt, who still has a quality team, despite the ban placed on the club.

“On the one hand I don’t think it is time to feel sorry for him because looking at the squad he had last season and looking at the squad he has now is definitely an upgrade. It is an upgrade in terms of the quality of players that he had, and definitely an upgrade in terms of squad stature in Kaizer Chiefs,” Davids told the media.

“They have a quality squad at the moment. Yes, they have not been able to strengthen but that squad got them to 20 minutes from winning the league, so let’s not undermine the quality of the squad. I think that is what’s going around. They have a quality side who came close to winning the league and we expect a really tough game come Sunday.”
