Orlando Pirates assistant coach, Fadlu Davids, has provided an important update about the match against Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Buccaneers will get their Absa Premiership campaign back on track with an all-important clash against the Brazilians on Tuesday, and Davids has explained how the Soweto giants have been preparing for the match.
“We have been training now for four weeks and as the days get closer to our first match of course the excitement builds up. The team is really excited to get back on the pitch... and really get to match competition time,” he said on the video on the club’s official website.
“Of course the preparations are going well for Sundowns, we are getting closer to match time going into detail in terms of how we are going to approach the game,” the coach said, in part.
“Of course Sundowns have one match post-lockdown that will give us a slight idea of how football will be in an empty stadium. Our team is excited (and) our team is ready to go. We are really hungry to get back on that pitch and execute what we have been planning and what we have been training,” he added.
Davids says the team is concerned that they will be without their 12th man – the supporters behind them, but is aware that they need to ‘adapt to the new way of playing football’ as the current situation calls for that.
