Orlando Pirates

Chiefs Star’s Compatriot To Join Pirates?

Orlando Pirates are the reported favourites to land the services of a highly sought after midfielder.

3 PSL Teams Showing Interest In Da Gama

Last week the Siya crew broke the news that Kenyan outfit Gor Mahia have given the green light for their highly-rated captain Kenneth Muguna to make a move to the PSL.

Now, reports out of Kenya suggest that Pirates have beaten the likes of AmaZulu and SuperSport United to the signature of Gor Mahia captain Kenneth Muguna.

The Kenyan international could become the second Kenyan in the Premier Soccer League after Anthony Akumu, who plies his trade for Kaizer Chiefs.

However, Pirates are not the only club after the 24-year-old attacking midfielder, DC Motema Pembe from DR Congo, Petro Atletico from Angola and Tanzanian outfit Azam have all shown interest in Muguna, however that interest has subsequently died down.

According to the player’s agent Frans Molopela Mpedi, who is based in Pretoria, Pirates got a whiff of Muguna’s abilities via a video and thereafter Bucs officials went to see him live in action.

"Pirates, through their chairperson, have been pushing to have the player join them as soon as possible. They were impressed by his qualities from a video we shared as well as the few live Caf matches in which he featured in in the past," said the agent speaking to The Star in Kenya.

Pirates' New Signing: From R900k to R19M

Although the player still has a year left on his contract, it is believed that Bucs will stop at nothing to get their man, meanwhile, the player also confirmed to The Star that he is considering offers from the PSL.

"I have less than a year remaining in my contract with Gor. I am, however, not worried of where I will be playing next season. My agent has told me he is in communication with three South African clubs and by the end of the window, I shall have made my mind on whether to stay at Gor or switch allegiance, " Muguna told the Kenya publication.
