Orlando Pirates appear to have made a decision on one more member of the squad, following the club’s announcement on Happy Jele, Justice Chabalala and Gladwin Shitolo this week.
After confirming the extension of Jele’s contract by one more year on Wednesday and having confirmed Chablala’s loan move to Sekhukhune United as well as the parting of ways with Shitolo, the Buccaneers appear to have made a decision on Sandile Mthethwa who was on loan at Chippa United last season.

Indications from sources in the know are that the 24-year-old will be retained to fight for his place in the team for the new campaign.
The centre-back is part and parcel of the team’s pre-season preparations and is said to have already been told that he is staying to fight for his place under head coach Josef Zinnbauer and his technical team.

If there will be no last-minute changes, it will be the first time that Mthethwa will receive a chance to compete for a position in Pirates' first team in over five years.
After being joining the Soweto giants from the KZN Academy in January 2016, the Richards Bay-born player has been put on loan on four occasions.
He was loaned to Richards Bay on two occasions, as well as to Chippa United, for two different spells.
At Pirates, he is set to compete with Jele, Thulani Hlatshwayo and Kwanda Mngonyama among others, for the centre-back role.
