An update has been provided on Orlando Pirates star Thembinkosi Lorch’s court appearance by the National Prosecuting Authority after he appeared at the Midrand Magistrate's Court yesterday (Thursday) on a charge of assault.
The 27-year-old found himself on the wrong side of the law for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, an incident which the victim reported to the police last month.
Yesterday’s appearance in court was the second for the star after he was initially released on R2000 bail on September 07.
As confirmed by the NPA, the case against the Bafana Bafana international has been postponed to October 27.
“It has been postponed to 27 October,” NPA’s Phindi Mjonondwane confirmed to the Siya crew.
Meanwhile, the last official word from the Buccaneers about the Lorch matter on September 08 was that the club initiated an investigation into the conduct of the attacking midfielder, in line with the club’s code of conduct and pledge that all its employees are signatories to.
Prior to that, Lorch had pleaded guilty to all charges that were brought against him by the club for a breach of the team’s protocols, which led to his exclusion as well as Justin Shonga from the squad that initially reported for the bio-bubble when the 2019/20 season resumed in August.
Lorch was later brought back to finish the season with the team.
