A mouth-watering match is anticipated as Orlando Pirates are set to host SuperSport United in a DStv Premiership fixture.
The Buccaneers will go into the match aiming to make it two wins in a row in the league after securing a victory in their last match before the break against Bloemfontein Celtic, though they know that Matsatsantsa have been tough opponents in recent years.
Former SuperSport and Pirates midfielder, Gerald Modabi, feels that the Bucs could have the upper hand in this fixture.
“I think it’s going to be a very tricky affair because besides how the teams have been playing lately, some might say Pirates have an edge after winning two Soweto derbies convincingly and have had different players getting on the scoresheet. That augurs well for Pirates and gives them the advantage over SuperSport United.”
Last season, Bucs lost 3-0 against Matsatsantsa in the first round, which turned out to be the last match in charge for Serbian coach, Milutin Sredojevic before his resignation.
“But let’s not forget how United have always done against Pirates. They have probably won most games if you look at the head-to-head statistics. If I’m not mistaken, since I was there as a youngster and it has continued with the youngsters that have come through as the club is packed with the youngsters. They give opportunity to youngsters against big clubs. It’s going to be a tricky affair but I will have to go for a draw in this one, but it will be a high-scoring affair,” Modabi told the Siya crew.
The clash is scheduled for Saturday at 18:00.
