Micho’s Pirates Promise, Rates Bucs’ Season
Milutin Sredojevic says that he knows one thing for sure about Orlando Pirates next season, while also rating their season out of 10 after they missed out on silverware on the final day.
The Buccaneers improved once more with regards to their points tally in their 2018/19 campaign, however it wasn’t enough to beat Mamelodi Sundowns as Pitso Mosimane and his side managed to defend the Absa Premiership title.
‘Micho’ is now looking to move on from the disappointment of not being able to finish the job, and has told fans of the club that things will be better in 2019/20 when they hope to pick up their first trophy since 2014.
Speaking to the media after the 3-0 win over Polokwane City, the Serbian said, “One thing is for sure… Orlando Pirates will be much, much better next season than they’ve been this season from all the aspects. We have no right to enter into the season without bringing something on the table to show, and with that in mind we’re expected so much from the season ahead.”
The coach then went on to rate this campaign from his perspective, saying, “If 10/10 perfection does not exist, I would – looking at this season – say it was about a 7.5. I hope I’m realistic with that, if we had won a cup, if we had got to the quarterfinals of the CAF Champions League then maybe it would have been a 9 or 9.5, but without anything for show we’re about a 7.5 realistically.”
Pirates’ players will now be given time off to recoup before the season stars again in a few months’ time, although they are expected to have a handful of players in Stuart Baxter’s Bafana Bafana side for the African Cup of Nations.
