Luvuyo Memela is understood to have stopped training with Orlando Pirates, with the Siya crew being informed his exit at the club is imminent.
The Buccaneers confirmed earlier last week that talks over a new contract with the attacker had stalled as they could not agree terms.
Now, indications are that Memela, 33, could be moving on with sources suggesting he already has several suitors from other Dstv Premiership clubs.
He joined Pirates five years ago from Cape Town All Stars and has been one of their key assets, making 95 appearances, scoring 15 goals and contributing with 28 assists in that period – but he currently does not have a contract with the club.
Both parties have been deadlocked and can’t seem to agree on the finer details, and Memela was left out of coach Josef Zinnbauer’s 20-man squad that beat Cape Town City in the MTN8 quarterfinals at Orlando Stadium on Saturday night.
His No.11 jersey has also been given to new signing Deon Hotto, and that, perhaps, was the biggest give away that Memela could be moving on.
Should he not reach an agreement with Pirates, as it now looks likely, the player will become a free agent and can join a club of his choice at any time, even after the transfer window slams shut at the end of November.
