When Mandla Ncikazi joined Orlando Pirates from Golden Arrows, not much was said about his role, apart from the fact that he would be part of the technical team. Now, the coach has broken his silence on his role at the club, as well as his plans.
In an interview with the team’s media department, the well-travelled coach has revealed what he plans to bring to Pirates’ galaxy of stars, amid the high expectations from the club’s passionate supporters.
“Working with the technical team and everybody involved at the club, we must identify the smaller edges and advantages we have over our opponents that we can take so that it can give us wins,” he told Pirates TV.
“I’m not coming into a club that has not done well, they won the MTN8 and the Carling Cup and the quarter-finals in two competitions, so how can I just add to what is there already without removing what is already there.
“Blessings as they are, they also go with burdens, the expectations are huge in this club, this is a club that is expected to win every match, every trophy, so the joy is short-lived and I am hoping that my little contribution can be enough to help this club to be better. I don’t take it lightly that I am in a galaxy of stars, coming from an environment where maybe the resources were not this big,” he added.
More than a month after being roped in at Pirates, Ncikazi broke his silence on new role, and in which capacity he will form part of the Bucs technical team.
“My name is Mandla Ncikazi, Orlando Pirates assistant coach.”
