Orlando Pirates coach Mandla Ncikazi says his side is willing to sacrifice clean sheets in matches if it means the team collects maximum points.
A constant theme for both Ncikazi and fellow coach Fadlu Davids, is the club’s inability to tuck away chances created in games.
The Buccaneers have a low scoring rate of just one goal per match, having found the back of the net on 11 occasions in their opening 11 matches, which has proven problematic for the Soweto giants.
While they admit that goalscoring has been a problem for the club, Ncikazi maintains that the Sea Robbers do have what it takes to come up with solutions.
“One of us is going to have a heart attack very soon - hopefully not. It’s frustrating, but again, as a coach you have to see light where everyone else sees darkness. We have to be there for the players and try to find solutions of trying to solve this problem,” Ncikazi told the club’s media department after the match.
The Bucs mentor says that his side is willing to concede goals if it means that Pirates find the back of the net more regularly.
“I think we have a capacity to solve it, we must solve it soon. The next match is just here, Stellenbosch, not an easy match away but we have to put the ball in the net, even if it means the score is 4-3 but as long as Pirates have scored more than the opponents, I think that’s important,” he added.
