'Pirates Are The Team To Beat This Season'

SuperSport United coach Kaitano Tembo has identifed in-form Orlando Pirates, as the best team in the DStv Premiership, as the two sides go head-to-head in what promises to be an exhilarating encounter.

Based on history, the clash is a fixture that serves up goals, entertainment and drama and this Saturday promises to be no different.

For Coach Tembo, his side might have been bundled out of the MTN8 semi-final by Bloemfontein Celtic, but the Zimbabwean mentor has now turned his attention to the DStv Premiership, where his team looks to continue their fine league start.

“Look, it’s always tough playing against a team like Pirates I think one of the strongest, if not the strongest team in the league. They brought in good players and you can see that they had a very good start, a near perfect start to the season. They are already in a cup final and it shows what kind of a team we are playing against,” Tembo said speaking to the Siya crew.

While his side holds a slight advantage over the Buccaneers in recent encounters, Tembo says history counts for nothing. More especially, against a reinforced Pirates, in which he has seen tremendous change.

“What has changed and what I have noticed is that they are working more and playing more as a unit and their work ethic is really good. We will have to compete if we are hoping to get any positive result from this and not think about previous results because this season is a different season, which comes with its own challenges.

“We really need to go out there and play because we are playing a very good team which I feel is the best team in the league at the moment,” Tembo added.

Pirates have made some impressive acquisitions this season, some of who have already showed their capabilities under coach Josef Zinnbauer, and Tembo feels these signings have taken the Soweto giants to the next level.

“Pirates have done good business in terms of players that they need, not just bringing in players, so they look good and for me to be honest, that is the team to beat this season,” Tembo concluded.

Kick off for the match is scheduled for 15:00.
