Josef Zinnbauer is not getting ahead of himself when it comes to Orlando Pirates’ ambitions in the CAF Confederations Cup.
Pirates managed to secure their passage to the group stages courtesy of a comfortable 4-0 aggregate win over Jwaneng Galaxy.
Asked if his side could go all the way and reach the final of the Confederations Cup as they did eight years ago, the German maintained his composure, insisting that all 16 teams in the competition have an equal shot of winning it.
“I think it’s not easy you have always Champions League opponents in the group maybe then it is the things we have to see, but we know that the group stages are not easy,” Zinnbauer told journalists in a post-match press conference after the Galaxy game.
“It is also a difficult and a hard work, but now all teams have a chance to win this cup, but we have to see what happens next week,” Zinnbauer added.
Pirates have been drawn in group A alongside Enyimba and Al Ahly Bengazi, who dropped down into the competition from the CAF Champions League, as well as current Algerian log leaders ES Setif, who make up the tricky group.
Pirates will now turn their attention to the DStv Premiership where SuperSport United lie in wait, before Maritzburg United come knocking in the Nedbank Cup last 16 on the weekend.
