With a new head coach at the helm and a few new faces added to the squad’s roster, Soccer Laduma takes a glimpse inside Orlando Pirates’ pre-season preparations.

The Buccaneers, who usually try to escape the hustle and bustle of Johannesburg for more tranquil facilities have started their preparations in the heart of Jozi, at Sturrock Park in Braamfontein, the former base of Bidvest Wits.
For the first time, Pirates supporters have had a glimpse of the club’s new technical team headed by coach Jose Riveiro, as well as a few of the club’s new acquisitions.
The club took to social media to give supporters a glimpse of their preparations.
While all eyes were on the new faces, it was refreshing to see a number of the club’s stalwarts making a return. The longest-serving member of the current squad Happy Jele looks set to lead the squad for yet another season.
While defender Paseka Mako, who suffered a torrid injury towards the end of the 2021/22 season looks to have made a full recovery and is back in training with the rest of his teammates.
Pirates are yet to welcome their Bafana Bafana internationals back from holiday with the likes of Thembinkosi Lorch, Goodman Mosele, Bandile Shandu, Innocent Maela and new recruit Evidence Makgopa expected to link up with the rest of the squad on Monday 4 July.
