Innocent Maela has named four Orlando Pirates senior players who help to lift the other players' morale by encouraging them as the team continues with its pursuit of the Absa Premiership title.
The Buccaneers have opened the gap between themselves and Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits to six points, following their 2-1 win over Free State Stars at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday night.
Speaking to the media after his Man of the Match performance against Ea Lla Koto, Maela commended the quartet of Musa Nyatama, Happy Jele, Mpho Makola and Thabo Matlaba for their role in encouraging the players.
“Obviously, the mood is good. The guys are working hard in training, the excitement is there. We also have people who are experienced like Musa Nyatama, Happy Jele, Mpho Makola (and) Thabo (Matlaba), people that have been there. They try so much to keep us grounded for us to stay humble and listening to the coaches and make sure that we keep going and keep improving. Now we can see that it’s close but we also know that we need to focus on the next match,” Maela told the media.
