Jele Passes Bucs Test, Club’s Big Decision Awaits…

Orlando Pirates are expected to make their decision on Happy Jele, after the experienced defender passed the club’s test with flying colours after his contribution on the field this season.

Wearing the armband and leading the team on the field, Jele emerged as one of the most valuable members in coach Milutin Sredojevic’s team.

The 32-year-old amassed a whopping 29 starts out of the 30 Absa Premiership matches for Bucs this season, while he also proved doubters wrong, who had concerns about his performances and age at the start of the campaign.

The Jele-led Bucs defence finished the season as one the best two in the league, having conceded 24 goals the entire campaign.

The only other team to have achieved those numbers are champions Mamelodi Sundowns. No other PSL team has had fewer goals conceded this season.

In total, Jele played in a whopping 42 matches from the 46 for the team in all competitions this season.

With Jele’s contract expiring at the end of next month, the player will feel that he has passed his test and that the club should decide on a possible new deal for him, despite having been unsuccessful in leading the side to trophy triumph again this season.

Jele’s representative, Jazzman Mahlakgane, confirmed in edition 1120 of Soccer Laduma that there have been no concerns from their side regarding the player’s future at the Buccaneers.

Last year, Jele had his one-year contract extension finalised in August, a day before the start of the season.
