Happy Jele’s Orlando Pirates record is at risk as he is set to miss his first match of the season today.
The Pirates defender and captain will miss this afternoon’s Absa Premiership clash against Stellenbosch FC, owing to suspension after he picked up his fourth yellow card of the campaign against the same opposition in their cup match last weekend.
Last season, the veteran centre-back started a whopping 29 matches in the league for Pirates as he led the team to 2nd place finish on the log.
The 32-year-old played an impressive 42 matches in total out of the 44 for the team in all competitions.
With the captain set to miss his first match with 22 matches still to go for the Buccaneers in the league, as well as the Telkom Knockout and Nedbank Cup, his record could be at risk should there be more suspensions for him or anything else later on in the season.
Jele is expected to return to lead Bucs in their league match against Highlands Park next Tuesday, as well as the TKO Soweto Derby clash against Kaizer Chiefs next Saturday.
