A former teammate of Tshegofatso Mabasa has weighed in on Orlando Pirates striker’s loss of form.
Following an impressive start to the 2019/20 season as he had been playing regularly and scoring goals for Pirates after joining from Bloemfontein Celtic, Mabasa lost his place in coach Josef Zinnbauer’s team to Gabadinho Mhango, who has become the league’s leading goal-scorer after netting 14 goals.

Roggert Nyundu played alongside Mabasa at Celtic and he has provided more information about what the Pirates star, who has bagged six goals this season.
“I played with him at Bloemfontein Celtic and what I know about Tshegofatso is that he is a short-tempered person. At Celtic he would be upset if he didn’t play. You know that all the players wouldn’t be happy when not playing and would complain about the coach that he doesn’t like them and all those things, and he would also be like that,” Nyundu told the Siya crew.

“The boy (Mabasa) is still young and I think sometimes he gets worried that (Gabadinho) Mhango is playing regularly and scoring goals, while he is not playing. Maybe his self-belief has also been affected by the situation,” he said.
