New Orlando Pirates striker Bienvenu Eva Nga has explained what attracted him to the club following his impressive outings in pre-season, where he scored four goals in two friendly matches.
Eva Nga joined Pirates on a three-year deal from Chippa United most recently, and the Cameroonian hitman says he is in high spirits ahead of the club’s first 2022/23 DStv Premiership encounter against Swallows on Saturday at the Orlando Stadium
The 29-year-old, with the ability to pounce on opportunities, is in line to make his debut for the Soweto giants, a club he ironically scored his first goal against on South African soil in the colours of Bidvest Wits.
“I’ve had a really warm welcome from people I’ve watched and seen from the outside. So, I’m really happy to be here at Pirates,” Eva Nga told the club’s official website.
“One of the things that have attracted me is the professionalism. Everything is organised and done on time. It’s something that also helps you improve in terms of discipline because you know that you need to do things properly, and you need to work hard to be a part of the starting team. Plus, it’s a big Club in South Africa.”

In terms of his personal goals, the attacker said he wants to help Pirates win trophies again and retain the club’s status as ‘happy people’.
“As a team, we know that we must have something to show this season. Personally, my objective is to help the team win something this season,” he added.
“We have the MTN8, the Nedbank Cup and the Premiership, and we need to win something. It’s a good thing the season is about to start, because that means the start of new opportunities."
