Orlando Pirates coach Micho Sredojevic has revealed that the club has planned its pre-season programme to the last detail.
The Serbian, who will be in the last year of his three-year contract with the club as he continues the hunt for silverware, also confirmed their return details with the Buccaneers looking to mount yet another title challenge. Pirates finished runners-up in the championship chase behind Mamelodi Sundowns last month.
“We need to submit the names of the CAF Champions League before July 11. To enter into competitive season, we want to improve further. That means we need a proper pre-season,” Sredojevic told the media.
“That kicks off with medicals on June 16 and 17. And then the players will return slowly, with our plans then culminating with the Carling Black Label Cup match against Kaizer Chiefs (scheduled for July 27).”
The PSL will only confirm the dates for the start of the 2019/20 campaign much later next month, but the Absa Premiership season is expected to begin early in August alongside the MTN8.
CAF has also adjusted its calendar for the continental competition and much like the SA domestic league, will run from August to May.
