Tyson Bids Farewell, Responds To Pirates Question...

Bidvest Wits captain Thulani Hlatshwayo has commented on his move to Orlando Pirates and opened up on the Clever Boys’ final season as a top-flight outfit.

‘Tyson’ spent six years with the Braamfontein outfit after joining them from Ajax Cape Town in 2014.

During that time, the Bafana Bafana skipper managed to help the team claim three major trophies namely the Telkom Knockout, MTN8 as well as the Absa Premiership title in 2017.

This season, Hlatshwayo along with his charismatic coach Gavin Hunt managed to lead the Clever Boys to a respectable fourth position in the Absa Premiership, something he credits to the 56-year-old’s character.

“He (Gavin Hunt) is a coach that has a lot of character and toughness, he is hard to impress and he made sure that he always pushes the guys to their limit. For as captain having that same heart, my job was to push the guys and make sure that we finish as high as we can.

“Knowing that the team would not exist anymore, it’s easy for us to have been sluggish and play just for the sake of playing, but all we did was make sure that we repay what the game has done for each of us and make sure that we bid farewell in a good way.

“We would have liked to be in the Nedbank Cup final and win all the trophies and for me personally to be able to win each and every trophy available for the team that has been good to me, Hlatshwayo said speaking to journalists at a SAFJA press conference.

Hunt: What I Want To Be Remembered For…

In addition, the 30-year-old remained tight-lipped over his move to Orlando Pirates for the new season as he winds down with loved ones after a gruelling campaign.

“I prefer not to comment right now because I’m at home relaxing with family, so that’s what I prefer to do,” Hlatshwayo said when asked about his Bucs move.

The Siya crew previously reported that Hlatshwayo has turned down a move to Mamelodi Sundowns in favour of Pirates, where he is said to have penned a five-year deal.
