Following his surprise exit from Orlando Pirates, which led to different opinions of the supporters on social media, Zambian forward Augustine Mulenga has explained why he left after spending more than two years at the Soweto giants since his arrival in January 2018.
Mulenga could come up against his former teammates in his first match for his new team, as AmaZulu are scheduled to play Pirates in their opening fixture of the 2020/21 DStv Premiership season on Saturday.
Last season, Mulenga made only nine league starts for Bucs, with the 30-year-old now confirming that his lack of regular game time led to his exit from the club, suggesting that he could be out to prove a point against Bucs this weekend.
“The reason why I left Orlando Pirates is because last season I didn’t have enough game time and looking at this new season they signed new players. It doesn’t mean that I didn’t want to compete with these new signings. The thing is that I didn’t want to go through what I went through last season and that’s why I asked them that I wanted to leave,” said Mulenga, speaking to the media this week.
