Orlando Pirates have experienced somewhat of a trophy drought over the last few years, with their last triumph coming over six years ago. Check out the last trophy the Buccaneers lifted.
The venue for the Nedbank Cup final was the Moses Mabhida stadium and the date was 17 May 2014.
Pirates ousted a stubborn Bidvest Wits side in Durban courtesy of a sublime second half Kermit Erasmus brace in a come-from-behind victory to be crowned the 2014 Nedbank Cup champions.
With the likes of the late Senzo Meyiwa in their star-studded squad, Vladimir Vermezovic’s side were expected to wallop the Braamfontein outfit.
However, Jabulani Shongwe made the most of an early error when he fired his side into the lead from six-yards out, at an acute angle to put the Clever Boys in front.
It wasn’t to be, as Pirates had too much fire power in their arsenal and managed to beat Gavin Hunt’s side 3-1 on the day.
