Another PSL Coaching Change Looming…

A Royal AM coach from the team of last season could be affected by the changes expected to take place at the club ahead of the new season, following the arrival of players and technical team members from Bloemfontein Celtic after the sale of the club.

Royal are preparing for their first match of the 2021/22 DStv Premiership season against Swallows FC at Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday, after they successfully bought the topflight status of Celtic and relocated players and technical team members from Mangaung to KwaZulu-Natal.

Indications are that John Maduka is set to retain his position as the team’s head coach, and having arrived at the club with Abraham Nteo, Ditheko Mototo and Simon Gopane among others from Celtic to form his technical team, sources close to the club have revealed that the future of Posnet Omony is in doubt.

Omony served both as a goalkeeper coach and co-coach at the Shauwn Mkhize-owned club and has been one of the longest serving members of their technical team.

“Posnet Omony could be affected by the changes that are taking place at Royal AM and could be set to leave the club. After doing a great job, because you must remember that he was also the acting coach when Floyd Mogale left the club and was one of the guys who almost helped the club to promotion, now that the club has bought the Bloemfontein Celtic status he is told that the members of the technical team don’t want to mix and work together. The guy is on his own, and it seems the club is about to let him down,” said the source.

Despite representing the KZN club at the launch of the new DStv Premiership season at FNB Stadium on Wednesday, the Ugandan and former goalkeeper could find himself having to search for a new club for this season.

“All of this comes as a surprise as Posnet was at the launch of the new season to represent the club as the stand-in coach. We are talking about an experienced guy here who knows players from Royal AM and those from Celtic very well,” the source added.
