An in-form striker, who is on the verge of potentially securing a championship with his club, has emerged as one of the sought-after players in Mzansi.
Having scored 15 goals in all competitions this season and currently at the top of the charts in the league with promotion-chasing Richards Bay FC, former Kaizer Chiefs forward Sakhile Hlongwa has attracted interest from more clubs in the DStv Premiership, the Siya crew has been informed.
The 27-year-old, who will see his contract with the KwaZulu-Natal outfit expire at the end of the season, is expected to play in the topflight next season whether with Richards Bay or a different club, as confirmed by sources in the know.
“PSL clubs are looking to pounce on the GladAfrica Championship’s leading goal-scorer Sakhile Hlongwa who has been consistently scoring goals for Richards Bay. Hlongwa’s contract expires at the end of the season, and he is expected to sit down with his management team and decide a way forward. Interest is pouring in for the boy although he wants to give his club first option should they gain promotion something which looks likely,” said the source.
Hlongwa has netted 14 goals in the league with his one other strike in the Nedbank Cup, while he has bagged six assists.
