Orlando Pirates appear to have revived their interest in Malawian international midfielder Francisco Madinga, the Siya crew has learnt.
Following his impressive performances for Malawi in the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon earlier this year, while playing alongside Pirates striker Gabadinho Mhango and the rest of the Flames’ team, Madinga attracted interest from several clubs from different countries, including the Soweto giants.

Madinga is currently on the books of FC Dila Gori in Georgia and was one of the two European-based players who were in the Malawian team at AFCON.
Sources in the know have confirmed to the Siya crew that the 22-year-old player’s Mzansi-based representatives are listening to offers from different clubs in the DStv Premiership, with the Buccaneers having emerged as one of the teams that have shown interest in the attacking midfielder.
“Yes, Francisco Madinga has attracted interest from one of the Soweto giants. The player’s contract with his Georgian club expires at the end of the year,” confirmed the source.

“Madinga is a Malawian footballer who plays as a midfielder for Georgian club Dila Gori. He was in the Malawi squad for the Africa Cup of Nations. Baroka also showed interest in the player, and he almost joined them in January 2022 after the AFCON after the club tabled an official offer to his Georgian team Dela Gori. Madinga had a lethal combination with Gabadinho Mango during the AFCON tournament,” the source added.
Pirates were previously strongly linked with Mandinga back in 2019 during his time with Mighty Wanderers, which is the same club that the Houghton-based club signed their former star Joseph Kamwendo from in 2007.
