Khama Billiat has been urged to improve his performances to rekindle the form he enjoyed at Mamelodi Sundowns as he will be entering into his third season with Kaizer Chiefs.
Billiat comes from a disappointing season where he scored only three goals from 17 league starts and four substitute appearances under former Chiefs coach Ernst Middendop and the pressure has been mounting on him to replicate the form he enjoyed at the Brazilians when he also won the PSL’s Footballer of the Season award.
Former Chiefs midfielder Abel ‘Chacklas’ Shongwe – who recently singled out Bernard Parker as the player who has impressed him at Amakhosi this season – is disappointed in Billiat and has encouraged the Zimbabwean international to pick up his game.
“There are players there who are not pulling the strings together. They are no longer that hungry. Billiat has disappointed me. He has disappointed not only me but a lot of other people. I am asking myself why this boy is not doing it while he was doing it for Sundowns,” said Shongwe, speaking to the Siya crew.
“For the past two seasons, he hasn’t done much for Chiefs. I don’t know what the motive is behind that. That boy is talented. He is quality and he’s got everything. He has never paid back Chiefs to be honest and I know he can do better than that. Hopefully, next season if he will still be at Chiefs he will do his best and come to the party,” he added.
