Marumo Gallants are targeting Kaizer Chiefs next in pursuit of a top eight finish on the DStv Premiership log at the end of the season.
Having qualified for a second successive Nedbank Cup final after defeating Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila on Friday, Gallants have switched focus to the league and are in Johannesburg to face Chiefs at FNB Stadium this evening.
Gallants’ enterprising midfielder Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo is confident that his team can cause an upset against Amakhosi who have lost their last four matches.
“The preparations have been good, and we just played in the semi-final of the Nedbank Cup which I think puts us on the upper hand. We need to continue with our winning streak and make our chances of getting into the top eight possible. We are playing against a team that is in the top eight and above us on the log, so we need to win to boost our chances of getting into the top eight,” said Ndlondlo.
“It’s not going to be an easy game, but we do have a chance. I think they have played a few games and have been losing and I think that can work on our advantage,” he added.
Gallants and Chiefs played a 0-0 draw in their first round league match in September.
