Following an entertaining weekend of football, there were some surprises and disappointments after Mamelodi Sundowns conceded a last-minute injury-time equaliser against Swallows FC to take home only one point in the 1-1 in Tshwane, while Kaizer Chiefs were stopped from winning their fourth match in a row by Stellenbosch FC in the Western Cape.

In KwaZulu-Natal, Orlando Pirates had the better of Maritzburg United in the 1-0 win at the Harry Gwala Stadium to take a little bit of pressure off Josef Zinnbauer after having collected just one point out of a possible six from two previous matches, while SuperSport United have moved level on points with the pacesetters Sundowns and Swallows after defeating Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila 2-0 at the Thohoyandou Stadium.

Cape Town City ended Golden Arrows’ unbeaten run with a 4-2 win at Cape Town Stadium, while Chippa United and AmaZulu also had big wins against Limpopo sides Black Leopards and Baroka respectively.

Following the weekend’s results, the Citizens have moved up to fourth place on the DStv Premiership log behind Sundowns, SuperSport and Swallows respectively, while the Buccaneers are occupying the fifth position on the standings and are above Arrows and Chiefs in sixth and seventh position respectively.
Benni McCarthy’s AmaZulu are completing the top eight, as things stand, after successfully moving away from the relegation zone.
