Zimbabwean Attacker Becomes Eighth Signing For City

After unveiling Portuguese-Angolan international goalkeeper Hugo Marques on Thursday, Cape Town City have announced their eighth signing of the 2021/22 season.

As the Citizens finalise their preparations for this weekend’s opening match of the new season in the MTN8 against AmaZulu, Eric Tinkler and his team have been boosted with the addition of Zimbabwean attacker Douglas Mapfumo to the squad.

“City is delighted to announce the signing of forward Douglas Mapfumo. The 21y centre forward joins after spending a season on loan with Cape Umoya United. Welcome Dougie!” confirmed City on the club’s official Twitter account. 

 

Mapfumo joins Marques, Darren Keet, Bongani Mpandle, Idumba Fasika, Patrick Fisher, Katlego Mokhuoane and Khanyisa Mayo on the list of new signings made by the Mother City outfit in this transfer window.   

City will visit AmaZulu at the Moses Mabhida Stadium for their MTN8 quarter-final match on Sunday evening.
