Talent Chawapiwa has been advised to work harder to impress his coach at AmaZulu, Benni McCarthy, for a chance of more game time next season.
In the Durban team’s impressive 2020/21 DStv Premiership campaign, Chawapiwa made just six starts as he often found himself on the bench.
The 29-year-old came on as a substitute in 13 matches, and according to his agent Michael Ngobeni, the Zimbabwean international is happy at the club and looking forward to honouring his contract which is running until June 2022.
“Look, Talent Chawapiwa has a contract with AmaZulu and is happy at the club. Well, maybe he didn’t play as much as he would have loved to this past season but that doesn’t mean that he is no longer in the club’s plans. In my meeting with him, I have advised him to work twice as hard to impress Benni for a chance to play more and regularly,” said Ngobeni.
“I can’t blame the club or anyone in this case because we all saw that the team has done well and that the players that have been playing have done well. He must keep on working hard and he will also get his chance to start games and to play regularly,” added the intermediary.
While still with Baroka FC, where he helped the team to win the Telkom Knockout in 2018 with his impressive performances, Chawapiwa was linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs before AmaZulu won his signature in January 2019.
