Machwisa To Draw Inspiration From Mnyamane

NWU striker and current leading Varsity Football goalscorer, Tshenolo Machwisa, is hoping to follow in former teammate Thabo Mnyamane's footsteps and play in the PSL.
Mnyamane was the leading goalscorer in the inaugural season last year, and was signed by PSL side AmaTuks before the end of the tournament.
Machwisa played alongside Mnyamane last year, and has taken the mantle as the spearhead of the NWU attack, with his hat-trick against UCT in Mafikeng on Monday taking his season's tally up to four goals.
The NWU front-man says that it would be a dream come true to be signed by a professional team and join Mnyamane who is still in regular contact with his former teammates.
"Obviously I would love to play in the PSL, that is every player's dream. We are still in touch with Thabo (Mnyamane), he wishes us good luck before all of our games," he said.
Machwisa originally hails from Klerksdorp and is in his final year of a B.Sc in Agriculture, having enrolled at NWU in 2010. Although he heads the goalscorers list in Varsity Football this season he quickly deflects any praise onto the contribution of his teammates to his success.
"It is all about a team effort and working together, we are brothers on and off the pitch but we don't just play for ourselves or each other, it is also about representing the university and the community," he explained.
NWU attract a massive crowd in Mafikeng, selling out their 7 000 seater stadium for every home game, which makes them better supported than some PSL sides.
Machwisa showed that he has no problem performing on the big stage when he grabbed a hat-trick in the televised 6-0 thumping of UCT on Monday, but he pointed to the influence of his teammates such as midfield maestros Orebotse Mongae and Sandile Mbatha.
"Mongae is an incredible teammate to play with, when he has the ball you always have to expect something to happen because he is always creating something. But guys like Sandile Mbatha, Thatohatsi Santos and Matsobane Matsi all make my job a lot easier," he said.
That victory over UCT took NWU to the top of the standings, but they face a tricky trip to Pretoria to face defending champions UP-Tuks who beat them at home and away last year, knocking them out in the semifinals.
Machwisa was part of the team that went down in Mafikeng in the final round of the regular season, but he insists that the match on Monday will not be about revenge.
"What happened last year is in the past and we have put it behind us, we are focused on now. Tuks are a big team and defending champions, but we believe we can beat them and winning in Pretoria is enough motivation for our side," he said.
