Skipper Plots Revenge On Tuks
NWU are using this week to closely examine the weaknesses of their Varsity Football rivals UP-Tuks.
Tukkies outplayed NWU when they met in the semi-final last year, but NWU captain, Lebogang Phetlhu, says revenge will be sweet when the two sides meet in this season’s semi-finals next week.
The North-West students will have the home advantage next Monday and are hard at work this week preparing to outdo their opponents.
“We know them well, but our record against them is not good. We lost twice to them last season, so that will inspire to get a victory next week.
“This week we will be doing our homework for the match - watching videos and checking to see their weaknesses so that we can exploit them next week,” Phetlhu said.
The skipper has helped his team with some sterling performances this season and is confident his side will run out the better prepared team against Tuks.
Phetlhu praised his teammates for their hard work to win a home semi-final and believes consistency has been key to their success.
“I have been performing well this season and I’m happy with what I have done on the pitch. The other players have been amazing too – we have been very consistent,” he added.
Phetlhu also lauded the other teams in the tournament, saying the level of play in Varsity Football has been very high this term compared to the inaugural season last year.
