Papic: It Was Ugly

Black Leopards coach Kosta Papic admits his side were not at their best in their 1-0 promotion/relegation playoff win over Milano United on Wednesday night, but the three points is the most important thing.

The result sees Leopards still in with a chance of securing promotion into the Absa Premiership next season as they sit one point behind Polokwane City in the mini-league playoff table.

“It is not exactly what we wanted except the result,” said Papic.

“It was a tough match, but for us the three points was very important.

“We are not preforming like we want, but at least we won the match which was very important, and we still have a chance to go into the top flight.

“It was very tough, Milano had lots of chances in the first half and that was a wake up for my players.

“Three points from this match was very important.”

It will all come down to Sunday when Leopards and Polokwane lock horns in the final promotion/relegation playoff match, and with ‘Rise and Shine’ only needing a point to secure their place in the top flight, Papic is expecting them to play a defensive game.

“We playing in Gyani against the team who like to park the bus and we will see what is going to happen,” added the Leopards coach.

“We are an attacking club with attacking players, they (Polokwane) are a defending club with defending players – we will see who is going to win.

“If they came to play for a point it is going to be very difficult for us, of that there is no doubt.

“But if they come to play football as Polokwane say they do then it will be much easier for us.

“It doesn’t matter what tactics we use, if they don’t play defensive it will be a nice game.”
