Kaizer Chiefs are in the process of finalizing deals for a number of players as the month comes to an end, and there could be a new contract sorted in the near future…
Bernard Parker will see his current contract with Chiefs expire in July once the 2019/20 Absa Premiership season has come to an end, and while they do have an option to extend by one more year, there has been no talks over his future just yet.
That is set to change this week, however, with his long-time agent, Mike Makaab, confirming that Prosport International are due to meet with Amakhosi management while they’re in Durban for this weekend’s Absa Premiership encounter with Golden Arrows.
The attacker, who will turn 34 in March, has missed just two games over the course of the current campaign as he continues to play a vital role in this table-topping Glamour Boys side, and he has often donned the captain’s armband for Ernst Middendorp’s side on their way to the summit of the log.
Speaking to the crew this week, Makaab said, “Chiefs will be in Durban this week for their game against Arrows, and I’ll be sitting down with them to discuss Bernard’s future. He’s been a great servant to the club and he loves Kaizer Chiefs. Hopefully we can get something finalised for him soon.”
Parker is believed to be keen on extending his stay at Naturena and possibly finishing his career at Chiefs if the opportunity presents itself, however his current levels of fitness and regular game-time suggest that he’s nowhere near ready to hang up his boots anytime soon.
In total, eight deals will expire at Chiefs in June - here's the latest on what's happening:
