Orlando Pirates can still win the Absa Premiership title, but they would need to be consistent in their remaining eight games, while relying on a spectacular fall from grace by run-away log leaders, Kazier Chiefs.

The Buccaneers failed to reduce the gap at the summit to just three points at the weekend when they suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Amakhosi in the Soweto Derby and are now nine points behind, in third place and having played a game more.
Pirates have 24 points to play for, and if they win all their remaining matches they will amass a total tally of 63 points whereas Chiefs can get to 75 points if they, too, are victorious in all their outstanding league encounters.
Reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns are the closest at the moment, have a game in hand and are seven points behind Chiefs.
If Downs will all their matches, that’s 71 points – meaning both they and Pirates will hope that Amakhosi stumble a few times. But of course that means they must pick up more points during the title run-in until the final round of fixtures on May 9.
