Mario Booysen's early goal was enough to hand SuperSport United a 1-0 win over the Nedbank Ke Yona team at the Sinaba Sadium.
Khabo Zondo was the main man on the technical bench for the Ke Yona side, while Kaitano Tembo was in charge for SuperSport.
SuperSport broke the deadlock after just four minutes, as Mario Booysen lost his marker to glance home a header into the far corner.
Thabo Mnyamane was proving to be SuperSport's biggest attacking threat down the right flank, while his set-piece delivery was causing all sorts of trouble in the opposition box.
The Ke Yona team, meanwhile, spent most of the half chasing shadows, while they struggled to string a few passes together whenever they got the ball.
Mncwango came to the Ke Yona team's rescue before the break, as he produced two fine saves to deny Kingston Nkhatha and Mokoena in quick succession.
SuperSport United made a host of changes at the start of the second half, as they introduced the likes of Morne Nel, David Mathebula and Mondli Mpoto.
Matsatsantsa continued to dominate as the second half continued, although Mncwango was at his best to keep the Nedbank Cup champions at bay.
The Ke Yona team made a few more changes after the hour-mark and also replaced their influential goalkeeper Mncwango, who kept the score down with a number of saves.
SuperSport could have extended their advantage in the closing stages, but were let by some poor finishing from Mnyamane.
Nonetheless, SuperSport managed to see out the rest of the half to secure the victory. While the Ke Yona team are yet to secure a win since the Ke Yona challenge began.
